Jackie Boatwright: A Multifaceted Talent Bringing Candid Entertainment to the Stage

Author, producer, director, actor, minister, and businesswoman Jackie Boatwright brings her unique blend of talents to the stage with her latest production. The play, based on her book "Shells with No Substance," offers a candid and thought-provoking exploration of personal growth and empowerment.

Synopsis of the Play: No Shells

Eight women come together for their annual friendship dinner party, each caught in their own idealistic fallacies. As the evening progresses, they start pointing fingers to identify the "real shell" among them.

The party is hosted by Lisa in a house where every piece of furniture is purely decorative, keeping the ladies on their feet as she constantly reminds them of each item's cost. Ayo, who is responsible for the evening's food, is grappling with a serious identity crisis and numerous marital issues.

Among the friends is Sharon, who recently found Jesus and arrives with her bible and holy water, determined to convert the other women. Brenda, dressed for a night out at the club, refuses to shop in stores that carry her size and is upset that no one likes her dress. Gail, Brenda's partner in crime, proudly embraces her role as a cougar, boasting about her love for younger men and her refusal to date anyone older than 25.

Trinia, ever-focused on academic achievement, flaunts her doctorate and has entered a new social class, much to the dismay of her husband. Denise, defined by her light skin and long hair, constantly taunts Trinia about her darker complexion. Finally, there's Jackie, the minister of the group, who just wants to enjoy the evening but finds herself pulled into her pastoral role, trying to mediate and keep her friends together.

In this comedic drama, the women's "shells" are on full display. The evening takes an unexpected turn when an uninvited neighbor and her dog disrupt the party, leading to the revelation of unwanted truths about each woman. And that's just the beginning!

The night continues with more surprises as the women's husbands arrive, eager to share their own versions of the truth. *No Shells* is a stage play that is artistically refreshing, inspirationally moving, and laugh-out-loud entertaining.
